A NASA 50th Anniversary Celebration


A live videoconferencing event by Texas 3rd - 6th grade students, NASA's Johnson Space Center, NASA's Kennedy Space Center, and The National Archives Southwest Region!

Join us for a fun filled and educational day as we celebrate NASA's 50th Anniversary! The day's events will include four presentations by NASA, a presentation by the National Archives Southwest Region, and several student presentations!

How Can You Participate?

 

Present:

Texas students in 3rd - 6th grade are invited to give a 5 -10 minute presentation on any topic that relates to NASA's history. Presentations can focus on

  • a particular decade of NASA history
  • famous astronauts
  • important missions
  • products we use from NASA research and inventions
  • any other NASA related subject matter

Interact:

Students/classes that submit a presentation will be given FIRST PRIORITY to interact during the NASA and/or Archives presentations. Sites can also sign up to interact during student presentations.

Watch: Watch as a "view only" site as NASA, the Archives, or students present.

9:50 - 10:10 AM -- Student presentations: Neil Armstrong, the Astronaut by Flour Bluff ISD, History of Space Exploration by Denton Rayzor Elementary, and Channel 5 News by Cesar Chavez Elementary
10:10 - 11:00 AM -- NASA presents "America's Spaceport: John F. Kennedy Space Center"
11:00 - 11:20 AM -- Student presentations: Apollo 11 - "One Giant Leap for Mankind" by Jacksonville ISD West Side Elementary and Hispanic Astronauts in NASA by Taft Junior High School
11:20 - 12:10 PM -- NASA presents "Mapping the Moon with Wall-E"
12:10 - 12:30 PM -- Student presentations: Gamma-Ray Blasts by Flour Bluff Intermediate and NASA Jobs by Texas School for the Deaf
12:30 - 1:20 PM -- National Archives presents "Animals in Space and other Cool NASA Facts "
1:20 - 1:40 PM -- Student presentations: NASA - The Early Years by Lindale ISD's Velma Penny Elementary and NASA - The First 50 Years by Flatonia Elementary
1:40 - 2:30 AM -- NASA presents "Our Solar Neighborhood"
2:30 - 2:50 PM -- Student presentations: Sally Ride the Astronaut by Flour Bluff Intermediate and Hispanic Astronauts and Their Lives by The Academy at West Birdville
2:50 - 3:00 PM -- Closing
